The governance allocation includes covering expenses such as the costs of operating the Glow Foundation, the costs of auditing solar farms, and the costs of compensating elected governance offcials and any staff that assists the elected officials. Governance allocation is intentionally lightweight, and may occasionally need to be supported by the grants pool.
The token allocations for the Early Stage Funding, Late Stage Funding, and Ecosystem are all subject to a 6 year lockup. No tokens unlock at all for the first year, and then the tokens unlock linearly for the next five years.
The grants pool was bootstrapped with 6 million tokens to ensure that early inititives to help bootstrap the Glow community and Glow economy would have a healthy amount of funding.
Early Liquidity is a pool of Glow tokens that can be bought by anyone on-chain. The first token sold from the Early Liquidity pool for $0.30. Each token after that was more expensive. The price increases along a smooth curve, such that the price doubles every time 1,000,000 tokens are sold. For example, the 1,000,000th token was sold for $0.60, and the 2,000,000th token was sold for $1.20.
The ecosystem allocation includes rewards for Glow's earliest full time contributors, especially those that were working full time on Glow prior to any funding being secured to build the protocol and surrounding ecosystem.
