Glow V2 is an upgrade to the Glow protocol that allows anybody to control the distribution of GLW rewards, giving them the power to ensure that their preferred region or project is receiving incentives. This power is derived from an asset called Glow control, or GCTL, and the number of GLW tokens that a GCTL holder controls is directly proportional to the number of GCTL tokens that they are staking. You can read more about GCTL in our blog post and see live statistics for each region on our impact page.
This week, the Glow Foundation has received $60,000 to mint GCTL that will be staked evenly between Utah, Colorado, and Missouri. After this update, each of the three regions will be receiving more than 18,000 GLW per week that will go directly towards incentivizing local the construction of local solar farms. If you have property in one of these regions and would like to participate in the local incentives, you can get started with our blog post on how to list a solar farm on Glow.
If you would like to support one of these regions by minting and staking GCTL, or if you have another region that you would like to support, you can reach out to the Foundation by email at partnerships@glow.org. All proceeds from minting GCTL go into the Glow Endowment, which will be using these funds to create an LP position in the GLW/USDG Uniswap pool.
